How We Prepare Clients for Independent Training

INTRODUCTION

When clients begin training with our Kinesiologists, there are many bases to cover; initial assessments, and one-on-one coaching of self-massage techniques, corrective exercises, and functional strength training.

All of these steps are necessary because one builds upon the other. This eventually creates a strong foundation, and suit of armor, for our clients. But what happens when the last session is over? Is it an abrupt goodbye?

LET ME HELP PACK YOUR BAGS

Not exactly. The great news is, we are constantly educating clients on the “why” behind each exercise, the order, and when/how to progress repetitions, sets, and weight; the stuff that creates slow and steady improvements.

It is our belief that empowering clients with the tools and know-how are the best ways to foster confidence, strength increases, and independence as quickly and as safely as possible.

WHAT DOES THE LAST DAY LOOK LIKE?

Thankfully, by the last session our goal is to see the client performing all exercises with little to no coaching from us; that IS how you know when they are ready to fly from the nest, safely on their own.

But, sometimes there are in flight adjustments that need to be made. How is that managed?

NO MORE STICK FIGURES AND BAD DRAWING!

Our Kinesiologists are more than happy to answer questions that our clients may have. It only takes a quick call, email response, or a tap on our shoulder at the gym to get help from us. Most importantly, we have digital tools that help our clients gently transition to independent training.

It is very important to us that our clients are well armed for safe, effective, and independent training. We also understand that ongoing support is critical to continued success. That is why we have taken time to create a platform, McIsaacHealth.com, to help you and our clients.

MCISAACHEALTH.COM

Our site provides an entire exercise video library that began in 2013. Since that time, we have slowly and carefully grown our proprietary library based on client needs and client feedback. Our exercise library now has over 810 videos which have been organized in a logical flow. The major categories include:

Self-Massage
Correctives
Agility
Power
Strength
Metabolic Conditioning

Muscular
Skeletal
Skin/Bodyfat
Cardiovascular
Detoxification
Digestive
Hormones/Endocrine
Immune/Lymphatic
Neurological/Psychological
Reproductive
Respiratory
Urinary/Renal

Throughout the course of one-on-one sessions, we often provide articles and exercise links from our site to help our clients with health-related questions they might have. These steps also help clients perform requested exercises at home/between our scheduled meetings.

Ultimately, having clients gently implement requested home-based exercises while they are still seeing us starts the process of performing the entire program on their own, upon discharge. This helps produce a smooth transition.

CONCLUSIONS

…Knowledge is power. And we have a strong desire to help our clients think and act critically. We believe in developing strong relationships and ongoing support with our clients… because it helps them, it works, and they are worth it!
